Welcome!

This is the future home of a multi-disciplinary exploration of California’s disparate aspects, her stereotypes and secret histories. This fall I am embarking on a road trip to photograph both the Eastern Sierra and the Pacific coastline. My goal is to examine the physical state and how its residents react to and interact with it.

My intent is to create a primary body of photographic work, with the potential to grow over time, that visually explores the nature of California within a contextual framework of contradictory elements. California is many things, often contradictory, at once. A place, a principality, a state of mind.

What does California mean to various people? What does California mean to you? How do those meanings manifest themselves? That is what I am interested in finding out.
